I came across the fabulous work of Waylande Gregory while checking out Vivre.com. Not only has he created unique art deco ceramic pieces, but it turns out he is one of the most influential ceramic sculptors of the twentieth century (famous sculptures include Fountain of the Atoms and Light Dispelling Darkness). Though I am not a huge fan of his sculptures, I'm in love with his checkerboard black and gold plates and vases. Of course I would love the gold pieces - they are covered in 22k gold glaze.
